Foods that Your Tummy LovesStaying fit and healthy is a major focus for many people, and as more and more people are discovering they have food intolerances and digestive issues, selecting and preparing meals can initially it can be overwhelming.

It doesn’t have to be hard – in fact if you pay special attention to what you can eat as opposed to what you can’t, food will be much easier and more enjoyable, and it’s also easier to give up the foods that are troubling you, causing you allergies or even aggravating your IBS.

As is expected, always go for natural foods with very minimal processing.  This is especially important for people who need to be gluten free or dairy free.  You’ll be surprised at just how much dairy and gluten is in processed food items!

Keep your tummy happy and you’ll be much happier as well!  Here are some of the top foods that your tummy loves:

  1. Pomegranate – This is one of the best plant foods that will increase your haemoglobin which is good for your blood, heart and circulation
  2. Blueberries – Tasty, healthy and full of antioxidants
  3. Grapes – Tasty and healthy and good for energy
  4. Brown Rice – If you love rice, try brown rice, which is low GI, full of nutrients and tastes great.  If you are gluten intolerant, it’s a natural alternative to pasta.
  5. Fish – Go for cold water and fatty fish like salmon – it is a lean protein in it with essential oils.
  6. Carrots – Great for snacking on, an excellent source of beta-carotene, and they’re awesome if you roast them as well!
  7. Strawberries – A fantastic source of Vitamin C
  8. Apples – Even apples are rich in nutrients and good for health.
  9. Pineapple – This is a great fruit to eat for Vitamin C, but is also soothing if you have IBS.
  10. Broccoli – There is so much that you can do with broccoli – high in calcium and iron, it can be steamed, stir fried, put in a salad, used as crudités for dipping – and high in fibre!

  12. Tumeric – High in iodine and has wonderful healing properties.  You’ll find powdered turmeric used extensively in Indian and Sri Lankan cooking.
  13. Asian Mushrooms – Shiitake and Enoki mushrooms are great for stirfrys, soups and even Asian themed salads.  Great in iron, zinc and Vitamin B, and they taste good too!
